Common Red Soldier Beetle

Went for another walk on Frodsham Marshes today before meeting a friend in Widnes. 

I didn't get any satisfactory shots and I was beginning to think of alternatives when I spotted this insect. It's taken me some time to successfully identify it as a common red soldier beetle and I thought it would also make a good entry for Tiny Tuesday. 

I've also included a photo of a great crested grebe that I spotted on the river.
