The gardener

We set off on Monday morning from our Prestwick hotel for the private garden of Carnell, at Hurlford, not far from Kilmarnock. Owned by Micky and Deborah Findlay, it's been famous for its herbaceous borders, though all is not quite as it used to be, I have to say.

We had great fun there, though Micky drove around in his golf buggy, having broken his leg in two places by 'tripping over the dog', he said!

I caught him pretending to do some gardening and told him I was sending the picture to 'Hello' magazine! All very amusing!

Our second visit of the day was to Dumfries House, near Cumnock, the restoration of which was masterminded by Prince Charles. A wonderful house and some interesting garden developments.

My extra picture is of the restored bridge.
