Garden Visitor

In the corner of my garden I keep a plant pot saucer that catches rainwater for any visiting creatures. Today I was tidying it out, as it had collected a fair amount of leaf litter in the last few weeks. I'm not certain, but I think this beetle stopped to have a drink of the water from one of the leaves that I'd emptied out. Very handy as I had been trying, and failing to photograph it on the move. It was surprisingly quick on those little legs, until it stopped to pose for me.

If anyone can tell me the species of beetle, I would be most grateful.
