The Arrival and The Journey!

It didn't start well. When I set off last night I got to the M5 junction to go North from the A40 Golden Valley Bypass, between Gloucester and Cheltenham. The M5 was closed for some roadworks or other. Had to go on to Cheltenham, make my way to the Tewkesbury Road to pick up the M5 junction North of Cheltenham..

Got to BHX without further incident at about 2345 in time for the arrival, which you will have seen on yesterdays blip was about 15 minutes late. Daniel and family came through at 00:25'ish and off we set a few minutes later with the Sat Nav saying we'll get home at 01:35.

M42 closed for repairs, diverted traffic, including HGV's, were sent off down all sorts of country roads. Luckily the traffic volume was quite light.
Diversion took us in the direction of Redditch, Studley, Alcester, and then the Sat Nav thought it knew better so I followed it's instructions to turn left - then I realised it was trying to take me back to the M42. Took 3 miles to find a roundabout where we could turn around.
ETA to home is now 0215.

Back on the road toward Stratford on Avon, because it's a road I know, only to come across another road on the A46 which was closed.
Diversions through tiny country roads until we found ourselves heading for Evesham and Tewkesbury, at least heading for familiar country again or so I thought.
Sat Nav told me it had calculated a new route and the next thing was we were in Pinvin, near Throckmorton Airfield where I was last Saturday, after passing White Ladies Aston and Peopleton,.
This means it had taken me across country, heading a bit North at times, but we did hit signs for the M5 South so we finished up on the right motorway in the end, and it wasn't closed HURRAH!
We made good time and got them home at 0230 instead of 0135.

A long day for them, but they did have a great holiday and the boys are back to school in the morning, if they don't all sleep in!!
