Pipe rock

I have a new paperweight in the office. This is a lump of Cambrian Pipe Rock from the Assynt area of NW Scotland. It is a quartz-sandstone about 500 million years old and it is full of trace fossils. In this case they are the filled-in burrows of very early worms. The actual outcrop is amazing and very thought-provoking.
