The Little Coffee Shop

Wide Angle Wednesday: Modern
Taken outside the new coffee shop.

Coffee and more particularly coffee shops seem to be the sign of our modern times.

Most villages and small towns had a public toilet block once upon a time. Generally they were the sort of place that you would visit only if you were absolutely desperate.  In poor repair, often vandalised, and (allegedly) the hang outs of sex maniacs and drug dealers.  Once upon a time, not very long ago, this building was my village's public toilet block.  It was a pretty insalubrious place at night, poorly lit and a target for vandals.  Pretty much like most other public toilets in that respect.  It has been closed for years, as the Council got fed up with having to repair it. I had considered it for a Derelict Thursday blip...

Not so long ago, the Council decided to sell it. It is tiny - too small to be converted into a house. To the amazement of all, work started to the building a month or so ago.  We have been waiting with interest to see what was going to transpire.

As you can see from the photo, the building has now been completely renovated and converted.  On Saturday it opens as "The Little Coffee Shop". and I for one am looking forward to trying it out.  I will probably wait for a day or two first, the shop is so small that it would not take much interest for it to be impossible to get into!  Fingers crossed that they do a good cup of coffee.

With thanks to Hobbs for coming up with and running the Wide Angle Wednesday challenge.  You can see other entries here.
