Erasmusbridge
The Erasmus Bridge in addition to the Willemsbridge the second bridge across the Nieuwe Maas in the center of Rotterdam in the Port of Rotterdam and is named after the Dutch priest and humanist Erasmus. The bridge south of the neighborhood "Kop van Zuid" connects with the center on the north side of the river.
The Erasmus Bridge, designed by Ben van Berkel (UNStudio) and completed in 1996. The 284 meter long cable-stayed bridge has a 139 meter asymmetric steel pylon, which bridge the nickname "The Swan" thank you. Between the Southbank and the pylon there is a 89 meter long bascule bridge for ships that can not pass under the cable-stayed bridge. The bascule bridge is the largest and heaviest bascule bridge in Western Europe.
