Corncrake
Corncrakes were calling all around the area but had remained elusive. On a drive down a track one was chasing another along a hedge but soon vanished.
There were lots of other birds to see - redshank and oyster catchers (extra photos), ringed plovers with chicks and many more.
On the way back this beautiful corncrke appeared near a fence to have it's photo taken! I was thrilled to see them as I know how difficult they are too see. Wildlife watching is all a matter of luck.
A cliff top walk was attempted but was cut short as the wind was bitterly cold and gale force making it difficult to make progress.
