What chick is this?

Rescued from my eager retriever's mouth, found in long grass along with another chick. They were trying desperately to bury themselves in the roots of the grass. It had dark markings on a yellow ochre coat, and long pinkish legs and talons.

After taking a hasty blip, I replaced it and we retreated, hopefully they were not too traumatised.

I thought maybe a Grouse or a Curlew?
