Strimming - or not

A warm sunny afternoon with a few hours on the strimmer cutting grass but avoiding wild flowers. We both like to see the patches of blue bells, buttercups, daisies and pignut. We are preparing for a home exchange on Monday, a British couple who live in Spain are coming here as we fly out there. Fingers crossed they have warm sunshine. And inside the usual clean, polish, wash, iron ...yes iron. Yesterday we set about giving the sitting room floor a coat of linseed oil, with good results and then onto a Danish oil to coat the oak furniture (as recommended by the furniture makers), not good, too shiny. J had a word with the neighbour who may have saved the day, he said to use a fine steel wool gently on the surface.
