Flying saucer
If I were an alien (well, I sort of am, but I mean the 'from outer space' kind) my flying saucer would look like this. I'd live in one of the bobbly things hanging off the top stringy bits. The canteen (always an important element) would be that bulge at the bottom of the green stemmy bit, and the blue sticky out bits would be the radiator fins.
And now we're back to cars.
After a two-stage journey to school (the Saab officially only holds 3 passengers and I am still emotionally scarred from trying to make my kids share a seatbelt for 5 minutes last time the Audi broke), I headed up to rejoin the abandoned hot Audi and set off for the slow (mercifully mostly downhill) journey to the garage. Despite every slow walking person in Lavaur choosing that moment to cross the road, I did eventually make it to the garage with the car not overheated. Obviously the first thing garageman did was sit in the car and rev the engine until it hurt (hurt me, I mean, I don't really think my car has feelings). He was trying to get it to 100 degrees, which strangely I had thought was just what we were trying to avoid...
Anyway, he thinks chances are it's what my Dad said (needs the coolant system flushed out) but there is a chance it's the head gasket (but I don't think so as there's no water in the oil. I don't know whether to love or resent the fact that I know how to check for that.)
In other news, the saxophone has made my daughter cool. After school I headed out shopping with CarbBoy and reminded her that she might want to practice. When I came back she had changed from her tracksuit into what I can only describe as cool clothes, and was playing her alto in front of the mirror to "check her posture".
Meanwhile, I have a wedding outfit to alter for CarbBoy, and curtains to make for the school in a big rush as the main nursery room is far too hot for kids to be in and the aircon unit someone loaned us just eats electricity and pumps out tepid air at the rate of about 2 molecules per minute.
Also, after a hot sticky day, the sky just broke open and LOTS of rain is falling out. Hurrah.
