Manantial
We're inland Granada Province today. I'm at a Balneario with natural hot springs. This little therapeutic spa is really in the middle of no where, about an hour's drive inland from the coast.
Tomorrow I'll post a pic of the 13th century baths, as when we did our 'circuito' this afternoon I clearly didn't have my phone.
I had jets of hot water fired at me, a session in a mega jacuzzi (baño de percussion), then a hot soak in an amazing, ancient stone chamber full of extremely hot water (baño de la reina - please no jokes); followed by a bath of 'wine' (of course!). Finished off with a massage.
This place is in a delightful time warp - no plush, bling spa instead sort of 1970s retreat for retired Andalusians. Everyone is so friendly. Church service before dinner and now I'm huddling around the only wifi zone in the entire place!!! It's for an over 50s piece I'm doing. Looking forward to being retired!!
In fact this place is amazing - it's not plush; it's not fancy but it has a great energy. Here Socialism seems to works - the regional government subsidises holidays for retired people so they can enjoy a spa break, even though they are outside the modern economy. So it's a lovely mix of village people and holiday makers. But it only works as work-shy freeloaders from outside the community are not ruining it.
P.S. this is one of the guests looking out over the river of hot water (47 degrees!)
Talking of hot, it was 37 degrees driving up through the mountains - I blipped the poor guys resurfacing the round in the heat but ended up choosing this gentleman).
