Newport Centre after the barrage ;)

Walking through Newport City centre today at the point of high tide, gave me this view which is what the river would look like if the often proposed barrage were ever built.

The tide today was one of 12.3 Metres, (That's right Metres, not feet - that would be 40+ feet ), which is not the highest but was boosted by the extra water in the river due to the recent drought here ;)

The river Usk has the Second highest tidal range in the world, and that is something we would miss if the barrage were built.
