Female Atlas Moth
We went to Bristol Zoo today. It was busy and our last port of call was the butterfly house. The star attraction was this female atlas moth which only hatched yesterday. They only live for ten days as they have no mouth and in that time they have to mate and lay their eggs. The male if half the size of the female. The person in the butterfly house said he first had to pluck up the courage to approach her. We did see the male but he was as far from the female as possible.
Extra picture today is a mechanical spider - I wouldn't want to meet him in the dark!!!
