Porty People and Places

If you want to have someone to blame for the sudden loss of summer this evening I suggest you need look no further than Edinburgh City Council! 

No sooner had the Council  festooned our lampposts with signs trumpeting Here Comes Summer than summer - which had been indulging us all  here for most of this week - suddenly did a runner!

I met former colleagues for a summery coffee at The Beach House in the morning. 

Tiggy and I had a lovely summery lunch in our garden when I got home.  

We did some summer time gardening after lunch, including watering the parched lawn and flower beds.

At 1630 the cloud rolled in - the haar swirled across Portobello, the temperatures plummeted and the easterly breeze stirred  up some mid summer surf!

The beach, that had been swarming with summer sun worshippers, all day, was suddenly devoid of almost all human life. 

If you are planning on coming to next Saturday's Here Comes Summer event - wrap up well - it takes place on the beach and promenade in the vicinity of the Portobello Swimming Baths from 1300 until 1600.
