Silent protest

Sara invited me along to Tate Modern today for what turned out to be an unusually large Blipmeet. Kendall and Sue are visiting from Oregon, therefore everyone who knew their work piled in.

I got there early, so missed the beginning of the silent protest.

It turns out that the shrouded women writing in charcoal on  the turbine room floor were uninvited. They were protesting about Tate Modern taking money from BP, given their poor environmental record.

The little girl in the picture is reading literature, provided on request about the issues surrounding the protest.

Elsewhere in the building I saw posters saying "Keep Tate Modern free" implying that without BP's help we would all have to pay to enter.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Lovely to meet everyone today
