Walking the Marches
There are seven incorporated trades in what was the Royal Burgh of Stirling - Hammermen, Fleshers, Skinners, Bakers, Shoemakers, Weavers and Tailors. Traditionally these trades people used to walk the Marches or boundaries of the burgh annually. This custom is being revived and attempts being made to revive the trades as social or charitable groups. Today's March is seen leaving the Municipal buildings, lead by a piper and six men carrying picks and shovels. Various local dignitaries including the Provost took part in the march.
