Birthday!

I need to be in London tomorrow and yesterday was the birthday of my good friend, Ash, whom I first met (along with his wife, Sally) at university in 1985. It seemed an opportunity had presented itself and so the Minx booked us into a hotel near Ash and Sally's house, and we travelled down in the afternoon so that we could surprise him, this evening. (This was all arranged with Sally; it wasn't a complete ambush.)

We had a fab evening: Sally had laid on loads of amazing food, their kids were charming, and I even liked their dog, Edd (not always a given with me). We chatted, Ash showed me his current guitar set up (I love that stuff) and we even watched a handful of music videos, including this one, which Ash filmed for William D Drake. 

It would have been nice to take a photo at some point during the evening but sometimes it feels like pulling a camera out can shatter the mood of an evening, so instead I will leave you with this photo of our hotel. It was nothing quirky, just a Holiday Inn, but actually nicely done. A characteristically good choice by the Minx.
