Surprise surprise!
Had a wonderful day at Trooping the Colour, was one of the first to take their position on The Mall to watch (and photograph!) the procession.
As the crowds and press started to arrive, I spotted Doug, a press photographer I used to work with, had a nice chat and catch up with him before returning to Dad and my picnic chair.
Attracted by our pro looking Canon white zoom lenses, a few people had decided our spot 'must be a good spot' and stood alongside us, among those were a charming young South African lady, Linda and her delightful step daughter, 'Princess' Charlotte.
We kept each other company and entertained one another with tales of previous Royal events and photographs until the parade started.
Mercifully, the weather held and Her Majesty and the Duke rode in an open top carriage.
But it was the surprise appearance HRH Prince George of Cambridge's on the balcony for the flypast, his first public appearance on British soil, that stole the show.
Not yet 2 years old and totally upstaged Her Majesty Great Grannny on her Birthday Parade.
Dad and I were so very fortunate to be in the front row for both the parade and balcony appearance and to be reunited with our new friends as the crowds dispersed after the event.
Such a wonderful day, real shame mum was too poorly to join us.
