Mayfly

I received an email from the www.ladybird-survey org. people this morning informing me that the ladybird I thought was a Harlequin was actually a Hieroglyphic ladybird (Coccinella hieroglyphica).  You can read all about it HERE!  That's GOOD NEWS because the email also informed me that Harlequin Ladybirds found in London often have a fungal infection - hopefully they haven't reached this part of Scotland. I did go hunting the garden to see if I could find another Hieroglyphic Ladybird - no luck!  However, a Mayfly was lying on this leaf in the pond waiting for the sun to come out to dry her wings - no sign of sun so far today although the weather forecasts says we will have - hope they're correct!  Have a nice Sunday!
