Garden Iris

You would have thought that taking a shot of an iris in the garden would be just a matter of point and shoot. However, as irises are such large blooms it becomes difficult to isolate the bloom you want whilst maintaining sufficient depth of field and blurring the background adequately. I tried using a mounting board as a background but somehow the flower looked very artificial against this background. In the end I resorted to cleaning up the image in post-processing including cloning out part of my car - why did I not think to move it !
