Why not take a Man MOT?

Men's Health Week 15-21 June aims to highlight healthy living for men
East Leicestershire and Rutland men live longer, but many could live healthier too.
    *   The average life expectancy in East Leicestershire and Rutland is 80.5 years for men – higher than the England average.
    *   Lifestyle-care can help prevent the need for healthcare.
    *   Led by the Men's Health Forum in England and Wales, this year Men's Health Week challenges men to look after their relationships and wellbeing, not smoke, drink sensibly, be active, watch their weight and turn up to their NHS Health Check.
Dr Richard Palin, a GP in Wigston and Interim Chair of East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: "The health of our local population is generally better than the overall population of England. However, there are still thousands of men affected by ill health including heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Lifestyle factors play a significant part in preventing and managing
health conditions such as these.
"Although more men are living longer, their later years are not always as healthy as they might be, so it's important to remember that lifestyle-care can help prevent the need for healthcare.
"Experience shows that men are less likely to lead a healthy lifestyle and are more likely to smoke, drink alcohol to hazardous levels and be overweight or obese. The risk of serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease and stroke can be reduced by leading a healthy lifestyle."
