Just came back from a play Girija Ke Sapne (Girija's dreams) that, Adda and I had gone to see. The performances were very good.
It pointed out the irony of India's economic growth. A country where a large part of the wealth is distributed among a very small section of the population and the farmers are the ones who are suffering. What makes this more relevant is that even today, it is agriculture, that's the largest contributor to India's GDP.
Due to the poor living conditions and heavy dependence on the mercy of the monsoons, a lot of farmers live lives in great poverty. From time to time we hear news about farmers committing suicides. We remain indifferent. This was a play which talked about one such poor farmer's plight. It was portrayed in a humane manner and the actors were adept.
Will remember this for sure.
P.S. This is where the play took place. Have to apologise for the poor quality. As it turns out, I had forgotten about the ISO 400!
