Olden

Olden is 65 miles from the sea in Nordifjord. The population of the Olden area is approximately 1000 and the major source of employment is the slaughterhouse, with employees 350, rising to 600 in the busy season!! (Info source the tour guide…hopefully reliable!!)

The area is majestic and is a popular area for outdoor activities in summer and winter. The summer being short and the winter very long!! Summer temperatures can be 30 degrees C, but today was less than half of that and a bit damp at times. This is good for glaciers as it reduces the melting rate!! A short coach ride to the tranquil Lovatnet Lake, before a boat trip to Kjenndalstova. Coffee and waffles recharged the batteries before a walk to see the Kjenndalen glacier.  An interesting and active day.
