Goodbye
So today was the day I said goodbye to my uncle, who so bravely fought lung, stomach and liver cancer for 12 months and 24 days before loosing his battle.
We realised today that it was one year from his very first X ray and consultant meeting to when he was told the treatment wasn't working. We also flashed back to the consultant saying to us on may 3rd last year that if he was still sitting here in 6 months he was doing well. So I think he fought pretty hard up until the moment he died.
Today was hard, Tim carried my uncle in with the rest of the boys. A credit to Tim of how much my uncle loved him as he's only been part of the family since October last year... as soon as I saw the coffin I broke down and didn't stop crying for the next 50 minutes.
Spent the rest of the day with my aunt- who is being so strong, except for a little wobble this morning- but we can forgive her for that right?
We set up a just giving page in my uncles name and the grand total after just 10 days is £1350.57! Amazing as the hospice he spent a weekend at needs 2,000 a day to run!
