Waterlilies, II

I am completely captivated by these waterlilies.  How can
such a gorgeous bloom be found out in the wilds? ..How
did it evolve to be such/........Being on open water maybe
it had less enemies?  Less predators perhaps, so it developed
to be huge in its watery environment?  What do you think?
Usually wild flowers are more petite, but these are lush!
