Loggerhead turtle nests
Tis the season for Loggerhead turtles to head to their birthplace to lay their eggs. Happily, the ocean is close by. I took a trip this morning and found hundreds of new nests but didn't see a turtle. The mostly come on land during the dark hours. The arrows show three of the nests. (deep holes with approx 50 eggs each. They then head back to the ocean depths never to return again. The new turtles should hatch between 30 and 45 days and they will head to the ocean and will not return till next year when they will lay their eggs. I'm hoping to be able to get some pictures this year . The extra photo shows the patjh back to the ocean
