The Lab
Asbestos removal day 2. Given how well they did yesterday, managing to remove all the board, I fully expected them to complete early today and be gone by the time I got home. I came home from work to find them sitting about in the drive!
As it's a notifiable kind of asbestos, they had to employ a third party to come in and test the air quality. He'd set up shop with his microscope in our dining room. The first test failed, and they had to wait for the negative pressure pump thingy to exchange the air in the garage.
It does this about eight times an hour, so they left it for another 40 minutes before running the air test again. The test involves a certain volume of air in the room crossing a filter, which again takes about 40 minutes. He then looked at the filter under a microscope to see how many fibres he could count. All good this time and they started ripping out the plastic sheeting.
