Poor little Beat
Poor Beat. What an awful day he has had.
The vet waited for us at 8.30 and I waited until Beat had been sedated before I left him for his dental operation.
I had noticed a broken tooth - one of the big molars in the back of his mouth - and it was to be removed in an operation today.
I had a busy day at work interviewing people for the 8 open positions in the new department, we are opening at work later this summer, but a little past noon, I rang the vet to make sure Beat was ok.
It was shocking news from the vet. It was not one broken tooth, but two! And they were not just broken - they were shattered. The vet could not imagine what kind of accident that could lead to such an injury and he could not understand how Beat could function normally as he must have been in severe pain.
I noticed the injury Saturday morning and talked to the vet Monday morning. We got an appointment with the dental expert today. So Beat must have lived with it for at least 4 days. He has played as usually and eaten well, not shown signs of stress or pain. He really is a strange little boy, but so brave....
The operation lasted 3 hours and when I collected Beat at 4 pm, he was still half asleep. He has been for a very little walk and he has eaten some light dinner. He will be on strong pain killers these next days and on antibiotics. Hopefully he will feel a lot better tomorrow.
Vet bill - £600. Thank Godness for insurance!
See you tomorrow
