In the zone
At Lézignan market there is almost always an accordionist playing traditional French tunes. He's become such a fixture that I, like most regulars, walk past without really noticing him. This week he wasn't there, but at a different spot in the market a young woman was playing the violin with a guitarist accompanying her. She was so good that normally oblivious shoppers were stopping to listen, and they even applauded at the end of each piece. She was playing well known pieces such as Brahms' Hungarian dances with real flair. A very pleasant surprise. Less surprising: lots and lots of gorgeous fresh cherries and apricots came home in my basket!
