Waiting for the tide to go out

The white faced heron has a prime possy to wait for the tide to go out. A tree trunk to give him height to spot any action in the estuary. He is sheltered from the mean breeze by native plants all round. He has been preening by the look of the feathers in his beak.
A bleak day but with my cold almost gone I was keen to get out in the fresh air. And it was fresh with snow showers in the hills.
The extra is a long view of the estuary looking north/northwest to show how I saw the heron at first. I was able to walk round and get much closer. The usual happened- he flew away as I went to leave.
