Greater Sand Plover

You've seen the Lessers now meet the Greaters! This is a Greater Sand Plover, after much checking in the bird books. Greaters have longer beaks. These are tiny little shoreline birds that are almost invisible until you get your 'eye in' as they blend so beautifully into the mud! Very fast moving and entertaining to watch once you eventually spot one! They run very fast and then stop and then stand motionless for a bit and then run off again and plunge their beak into the mud! A gorgeous little bird.
