The Journey 1

We set out on a leisurely journey to the north east today. We stopped off in Barnard Castle to stretch our legs, have a bite to eat and a look around.

The on to Durham. It was a beautiful sunny evening and we visited the cathedral and castle and had a walk by the river before supper.

This is some detail from a sculpture called The Journey which depicts the monks carrying the body of St Cuthbert on a tour of southern Scotland and north east England before he came to rest in Durham.
