Mangetout

They say that it took ten years to develop a pea with a purple shell.  They are called Shiraz and are supposed to be the same colour as the grape of the same name. Oh well, I was tempted to try and grow them. These are living in a large pot which I started early,  in the corner of my sitting room.  I've just sown a long line of others which will be ready when these plants are spent and will hopefully produce the lion's share. There may even be some for the freezer.

The flowers are beautiful.  There are only a handful of these first pods and it will be a few days before I can cook a whole plateful.  Looking forward to the first tasting session. :)
