Garden Club picnic, Cape Cod
I spent a delightful day at our annual Garden Club picnic held a member's amazing summer house. The property has been in her husband's family for many years. The view is just spectacular and the house is filled with Early American antiques, a very treasured refuge for the family. It sleeps 20 with lovely and cozy bedrooms tucked up and downstairs.
We all brought our lunches and feasted on strawberry shortcakes for dessert. I was one of the June refreshment committee people and spent two hours yesterday hulling, slicing and mashing 4 qts of berries. The work was well worth it. We had a small auction fundraiser that netted over $200 for the club with unused things folks found around their houses. I took a package of 20 of my photo cards and they brought a good price.
For the Record,
This day came in with sunny, warm picnic perfect weather.
All hands healthy
My extra photos are of a Sailor's Valentine on one of the fireplace mantles in the house. R's husband gave it to her for Valentine's Day, placing it on the kitchen counter at home. The cat promptly knocked it off and repairs had to be made.
