Finish line

My role today has been Start line Manager, building and organising the start area for the Rock n Roll 5k race.

After stripping down the start I had the chance to see the spectacular finish line.

This is the floor of The 7000 seater Echo Arena.
Rock music, smoke machines and footlights greeted the athletes.

I got the same view as the athletes, with no previous idea what it was like.

In an operation of this scale lots of us focus on our bit and it all comes together for a spectacular whole.

The rest of the day I have been focusing on getting ready for tomorrow.
The most labour intensive job has been unwrapping 12000 medals, which someone calculated as 1 tonne in weight.

With the work done for today an early night was essential ready for a 3.15 alarm clock tomorrow.
