While England were losing

We were visiting friends today at Linslade near Leighton Buzzard.

England were playing Germany in the World Cup.

Just like the old Likely Lads episode, we made a brave attempt to avoid learning the result of the game by taking a walk down the Grand Union Canal towpath.

No chance.  All the moored canal boats had portable TVs and the groans told us that all was not going well.

In the end, we gave up and called in at The Globe inn for refreshments.

England lost 4-1.
