Bonelli's Warbler

In fact, Western Bonelli's Warbler--see the link for specific details on the species.  Our birding tour group headed out from Bormio in the Italian Alps this morning, and this was one of the first good birds we came across--not close but he stayed in this spot for a few shots, doubtless savoring the insect in his beak. Not common, this is one of the several dozen European warblers--their plumage is generally much less vivid than that of the warblers in our Western hemisphere. They are generally high and constantly in motion, so I was delighted to get the shot.

Note:  I have marked the map, but only approximately, since it shows no roads in the entire area which we visited. We were on the Western edge of the Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio (Stilfser Joch National Park), here at perhaps 4,000 feet.
