shed
today i went walking for the first time through the botanical garden on the university of maine campus. iris, azaleas, rhododendron were in full bloom, begging to be photographed. a bit overwhelmed by all the choices, i headed off down an overgrown road instead. over time i came upon this abandoned shed tucked in behind a stand of trees. a humble building of simple wood construction, i assumed it once held tools and equipment for the gardens. i puzzled over the heavy iron grates on every window. all sorts of colorful scenarios went through my mind as to why they were there. in the end, i guessed that the school mascot, the black bear, was somehow involved. but that's just a guess….
