Goon

All day in the office and then across for a governors' meeting in the late afternoon. Today was the Curriculum Committee and each year at our last session we meet with the SEN department. The meeting started with a presentation from two young men in year 7 who had taken part in the new 'transition curriculum', designed for children who come to the secondary school but are unable to access the curriculum.

These two lads who, last September, wouldn't have put up their hands in class for fear of looking stupid, stood up in front of a dozen adults, including their headteacher, and spoke for five minutes. It was quite amazing and I wonder what the boys made of all the teary-eyed adults who made up their audience. At the end, they took some questions from us, speaking clearly and confidently. It was quite an incredible transition: imagine what it's meant to those boys.

(Afterwards, I went for a drink with the head before heading home to make some supper. At this point, I realised I hadn't taken a photo, today, so I'm afraid you get this slightly goofy 'selfie'.)
