The people's People's

This is the south side of our food co-op, People's. It's an innovative green building, incorporating eco-roofs, cob building materials, a ground source heat pump and bioswales.

People's has thrived in Portland for 42 years. Not only do they sell fresh organic food to the public, they are a robust community center, providing space for community events and meetings. They host a weekly farmers market on the grounds year-round as well as seasonal events, like harvest festivals and summer street parties.

To say I'm grateful for our food co-op is to put it mildly. I'm thankful for the goods they provide, for their community involvement and for being such a great model for sustainability.
