A Yellow Rose
Loveliest of lovely things are they,
On earth, that soonest pass away.
The rose that lives its little hour
Is prized beyond the sculptured flower.
From the poem 'A Scene at the Banks of the Hudson', written in 1828 by William Cullen Bryant (1794 - 1878)
What a beautiful sight to behold as I pulled into the driveway at Mum's earlier today. Not only is the clump of Rose Campion which grows against the wall of the house at its glorious height of vivid pink, but the climbing rose that Dad planted last year in a trough next to it now has countless buds which have started to blossom into magnificent creamy yellow blooms.
