Peony

The beauty of the Peony is being revealed as the bud opens.
The flower is named after Paeon who studied medicine under Asclepius who was the Greek god of healing and medicine. Paeon successfully healed Pluto after he was wounded by Herculean but Asclepius was so jealous that he killed him. However Pluto in gratitude turned Paeon into a plant and called it Paeonia.

Thankyou for your concerns and comments for yesterday's blip. I had wondered whether it was right to do it but as Blip is a sort of photographic record of my life decided that I would.
