Catmint
This plant is growing in profusion in a small triangular garden on High Street just before the traffic lights. Until recently it was a repository for discarded bottles and fast food containers. What a difference it makes to the general ambiance of the approach to George St.
I initially identified this plant as lavender. However, on re-examination I rubbed some flowers through my fingers and discovered it was the herb catmint. Sorry to the folks who commented below. These plants are good for mass planting or edging. Lavender has individuals whorls while catmint is more feathery.
