Mr Merganser

I have blipped so infrequently in the last year that a shot of Mrs Merganser taken on 27 June 2014 is still on my home page thumbnails!

Interestingly, on that date she was sitting with her chicks, while today she and her partner still appear to be at the courting stage.    Well this male and another one were doing a lot of cooing and head dipping to try and impress a couple of females in the river in front of our house tonight.   They were so engaged with their romantic antics that they paid much less notice to me than they usually do.    However, I made one step too many towards them and their moment and mine was lost!
