Soft Lavender

For today's Monomonday challenge (Soft), I tried out a new, double exposure, technique to try to get a soft-focus image of Lavender enjoying the late evening sun in my front garden.

Here's how I did it: I took 2 backlit shots, one in focus and one out with the lens wide open for a shallow depth of field.  The images were opened as layers in Photoshop and blended using "screen". The result was converted to B&W and a curves layer added, before sending back to Lightroom for final tweaks and sharpening.
