Piste de Boules
The only "piste de boules" in the centre of a British City, is in Bond Court, Leeds.
On 9th November 2000, this bronze sculpture, of a Leeds family watching a boules player, was unveiled by Raymond Valliant, Deputy Mayor of Lille.
It celebrated the "twinship" with the French town.
Gifted by the Scurrah Wainwright Trust, and sculptured by Roger Burnett.
I have passed this many times, and never seen anyone playing boules yet!
MrC and I had a delightful lunch at The Art's cafe bar and restaurant.
( thanks to a fellow Blipper for recommending it!)
I had the Fish Plate.
Prawn and crayfish marie rose, new potato and herb salad, Scottish smoked salmon, haddock and dill fish cake, tartar sauce, dressed salad, and granary bread..........All for £7.50. A real bargain, and delicious.
I also had a nice chilled glass of South African white Chenin Blanc wine.
MrC had a Ploughman's Plate, which included among other things, pork pie, cheddar cheese, and roast ham. Equally as delicious, and the same price. We will be back!
Nice to go in to Leeds on the bus, with our free bus pass.
What we save in fares goes towards lunch, and we can have a drink too!
Weather better today. A little sun, and much warmer.
Had to water the pots when I got home as they were so dry!
