baby bird?

I was wandering down a farm track near the hotel, and saw this bird land on the telegraph pole. It was still there by the time I'd reached the car and got out my camera. I took this shot, and then gradually moved nearer but before I could get a closer shot, it took off. And I didn't have my glasses on either :-[

It looks a bit fluffy to me so maybe a fairly new fledgling?
