Excellent Day!

It's days like today which remind me why I first came in to teaching.  The Year 12s were off timetable to take part in workshops around the human right of freedom of expression, developing their skills in dialogue and debate.  In our group we witnessed our students gain in confidence through the morning and they threw us some challenging questions and insightful comment.  In the afternoon we all came together in a joint 'Question Time' event with students and staff from another school debating the issues, very proud of their attentiveness and respectfulness.  There were lots of comments on the way out about how much they had enjoyed they day and when was the next one.  Why do we no longer do more of this in education.......
