Lions mound - Waterloo

This is the Lions Mound. A memorial to the Belgian solders who fought at the battle of Waterloo.

This was the start of our two-day visit to the battlefield for the 200th anniversary of the battle that pitted Wellington and his allied army and Prussians against the French forces of Napoleon Bonaparte.

I liked how the figures were silhouetted against the light on the climb up to the top of the mound which affords a great view of where the battle took place.
